About The Role

6 Month Fixed Term Contract 

Duties and Responsibilities

Based in Newcastle, the Project Manager will be responsible for planning and managing business projects, including mobilisations, immobilisations and business change programmes, possibly with high-profile impact and high-risk dependencies. 

The Project Manager will be expected to take a personal responsibility in ensuring that:

  • The project's objectives are delivered
  • Projects are completed on time and within budget
  • The needs of key Stakeholders are met

Projects may involve working with both internal and external clients. The Project Manager may be expected to work alongside external consultants or Project Managers to ensure targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Project Sponsor to agree project objectives and delivery timescales
  • Ensuring that work streams are planned and executed effectively, delivering on schedule and on budget
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate project, quality, change control and risk management processes
  • Managing the expectations of all key project stakeholders
  • Facilitating effective communications between a broad range of wider stakeholders
  • Escalating issues or concerns to the Project Sponsor and reporting progress to the Project Steering Group
  • Coordinating workshops understand key issues and potential solutions
  • Running process improvement trials to assess the effectiveness of potential solutions and recommending specific courses of action
  • Ensuring that changes are implemented and controlled and the intended benefit is delivered

  • Effective management and leadership skills
  • Experience of projects that have required significant business change management
  • Clear understanding and use of risk & issue management and
  • Escalation processes, ability to identify issues and take corrective action
  • Previous accountability for ensuring all required controls and documentation are created
