 A bit about the role…

Reporting to the Technical Helpdesk Manager you will contribute to Morrison Data Services safety and quality assurance standards by supporting meter installers via the Technical Helpdesk based in Newcastle.  

The successful candidate will ensure the safe operation and industry compliance of metering work on gas and electric installations across the UK. You will be become part of the quality and assurance team that aim to continuously improve our quality standards within our field force and embed a safety conscious culture within our work practices. 

This is an ideal opportunity for someone in a field role to make the move into an office based role.

What you will bring to the role…

  • Excellent practical and theoretical knowledge of gas and electric metering activities.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role or considerable operational experience and will hold the relevant training and competence certification which for electricity must be as a minimum 1ph whole current work and 2 rate metering systems.
  • ACS qualifications and competence to U16 meter work would be desirable
  • Motivated with a positive approach to work, candidates will personally maintain their own industry and legislative knowledge
  • Computer literate (e-mail, spreadsheets and word processing are essential for this role)
  • Persuasive communication and influencing skills at all levels both internal and external

 Key Responsibilities for the role…

  • Focus upon the delivery of technical quality assurance support on gas and electric metering activities, via inspection of completed job photos, reporting of issues to field management and tracking rectification work through to completion.
  •  Be involved in the provision of the helpdesk based technical field support service providing phone and email advice, guidance and commissioning support to field management, quality coaches (auditor) and field staff operating from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday (40 hours on a shift based system) and 8am to 6pm  Saturday.
  • Reviewing and distributing field audit fail returns checking results against original job photos submitted by meter installers before issue to field management.
  • Provision of remedial inspection lists for field auditors.
  • Recording remedial inspections results on relevant trackers and sharing results with field management.
  • Review and closure of field management investigations responses received into the technical helpdesk.
  • Maintaining safety warming notice logs updating management of non-conformance issues identified across teams and responding to relevant authorities when requested.
