A bit about the role…

Morrison Data Services are going through an exciting period of growth which has led to a newly created position for a Health & Safety Co-ordinator to supporting our Data Collection division. Working across both our Water and Energy Contracts you will support with all matters relating to health & safety, along with administration duties, conducting audits and inspections. Working alongside our highly experienced Head of Health & Safety, Steve; you will help Managers to administer and support day to day operations.

Key Responsibilities of the role…

  • Co-ordinate the monthly and annual H&S reporting returns to the Head of Health and Safety and ensure that corrective actions are implemented for any under-performance.
  • Provide a high quality, customer focused service that is responsive to customer needs.
  • Undertake audits, working with auditors to identify internal controls, working with Heads of Service to provide corrective actions for any non-conformity and closing out the audit. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peer groups and key internal stakeholders.
  • Attend management forums to discuss H&S performance including progress updates and planned/future implementations/developments.
  • Escalate issues to MDS Data Collection Heads of Service and the Head of Health and Safety concerning situations which could lead to legal sanctions or prosecution by enforcing authorities.
  • Investigate and provide remediation and corrective actions all near misses/incidents/accidents/unsafe working practices occurring across both contracts and ensure all incident reports are adequately completed and filed.
  • Assisting with facilities inspections and ensuring fire safety is well managed.
  • Informing the line manager of any potential hazards and risks.

  • Prior Health & Safety knowledge
  • The ability to build, strong working relationships with customers and colleagues to achieve goals.
  • Have the ability to suggest/make improvements to current ways of working to improve efficiency and provide solutions to potential issues.
  • To take ownership of customer requests and issues and have the understanding of when escalations are appropriate.
  • The ability to plan your own workload and schedule to make the best use of time.
  • The ability to work independently and without supervision when required.
  • Have a strong understanding of customer needs and requirements.
  • Be proactive to stays up to date with relevant company information and policy and takes part in training.
  • ICT literate on word, excel, PowerPoint


  • Health and Safety qualification
  • Notices when colleagues need help and provide support where possible. 
  • Asks questions and listens to what people are saying to understand how they can help. . 
  • Thinks ahead and flags up if a personal target or objective may not be achieved.
